THE OSTEOPATHIC PROFESSION
Osteopathy received statutory recognition in the Osteopathic Act of 1993 and was the first complementary health care profession to be awarded this recognition.
The General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) was set up to regulate the profession and maintain a high standard of professionalism and training. In order to call themselves osteopaths they need to have met the requirements of the GOsC. This provides safeguards to both the patient and the osteopath.
They can be contacted at www.osteopathy.org.uk, telephone 020 7357 6655.
